Working with Gillian on my fitness has been great. Her ability to motivate me with challenging and fun sessions while always stretching my abilities keeps me improving. She demonstrates the importance of varying the focus of my sessions and constantly mixes in exercises that I have not done before . The variety makes the workouts fun and the steady progress towards my goals keeps me wanting to keep it up.

Gillian is able to push me to do things that I am convinced I cannot do but her encouragement and guidance makes me work far better than I could ever do on my own. Gillian knows her stuff. Circuits are always well thought out, rigorous and effective, and they completely take away any thinking/set up you might have felt you had to do if you were doing this on your own. There is great variety so you never get bored (or have time to get bored). And don’t think about slacking off or hiding among the group: she will find ways to challenge you individually (even around an injury).

Gillian also is always available to give advice and information, not just about workouts but also nutrition, other activities and equipment. She’s plugged into other fitness resources such as assessments and therapist … you don’t just get boot camp, you get a whole package. The future me will thank the today me one day.

Gillian’s energy, education, experience and genuine interest in you motivates you to workout at your very best every time. I had always been inactive and overweight, but by the end of 2004, my size 14 and XL clothes were beyond tight and I knew I had to make some big changes. I started my first program with Gillian in January 2005. Gillian takes a very practical approach and works with you to ensure that she can provide a good balance of motivation, support and accountability. Working with her, I lost over 40 lbs in about 11 months, fitting comfortably into size 8! In that time, I developed an appreciation for what my body could do (there’s no “I can’t” with Gillian!), I also learned a lot about nutrition and the clear impact of my food on the scale. I learned not to beat myself up if I made poor choices, but to recommit myself to reaching my goals. Since then, Gillian has guided me through two fit pregnancies, expertly tailoring my programs through all trimesters and quickly and safely getting me back to the gym post-partum. Today I weigh even less than I did when I first reached my “goal” in November 2005, and I attribute that a lot to the strong base of information and support that I received while working with Gillian. Several times I catch myself thinking, “What would Gillian do?” and that goes beyond my workouts and food choices, extending to how I raise my children and participate in my community. Gillian is the best role model you could have and, although she would tell you that you make your own success, your success is that much more achievable in her capable hands!

I started in Gillian's boot camp two years ago after a particularly bad ski holiday where I struggled with each turn. Even my curling game was suffering that year. Physical activities brought on the oddest aches, pains, and twinges that I had never experienced before. And living on a large property, with lots of gardens and house/yard maintenance work to be done, requires significant physical exertion. After sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day for 20 years, it had finally caught up to me. Within 2 months of joining Gillian's class, I had already noticed a big change in how I felt. No more weird pains during curling or skiing. A lot more strength and stamina when working around the house. Apparently, flipping huge tractor tires really does help 🙂 Gillian makes the classes enjoyable. Encouragement is provided during class, in a truly friendly and motivational manner. Circuits are changed each month and new exercises are introduced regularly, so one does not get bored. Gentle reminders are given when one misses a class. And she's happy to tailor each exercise to the individual's abilities. Do I like going to class? Not particularly, as it is definitely hard work. Am I glad I continue to go? Absolutely. I cannot imagine not attending her class. Without her help, all I would be able to do is sit at my desk - and that's not living well.

I've been attending Gillian's classes for 14 years and I know my strength and endurance have been improving consistently. When I started with Gillian, my knee was in bad shape from injuries and surgery years before - I couldn't even squat to pick something off the floor. Not only can I squat now, I can do things I didn't think possible at the time. My core, strength, balance, range of motion and endurance have all improved. Gillian puts uncompromising priority on proper form and safety, and she adjusts the exercises for all fitness levels and challenges everyone to improve… no matter what your fitness level. I sometimes tell people that if were not for Gillian's classes, I might be dead from stress at work . Seriously, I feel great after class and it's a great way to start or end the work day.
